Gospel Doctrine Lesson 11: “The Field Is White Already to Harvest”

Gospel Doctrine Lesson 11: “The Field Is White Already to Harvest”

Attention Activity:

Tell the class that today we are going to talk about one of the most popular topics in the Church.  Have the class think back on their time as a member and try to come up with a top ten list of the topics that are most frequently talked about in the Church.  (Usually missionary work will come up.)  Then ask, “What are some of your favorite scriptures or teachings regarding missionary work?”  (For a younger class you can turn this into an activity by giving them about 2 minutes to find on their own a great verse or section from the D&C about missionary work.)  Talk for a few minutes about some of the doctrines of missionary work.  You may even share some of section 4 and ask why that section is so powerful for missionary work.

Class Discussion:

Now tell the class that you are going to only focus on one aspect of missionary work.  For my class I would only focus on the blessings of missionary work.  Have the list from number 5 in the lesson manual.  Tell the class to find one of the blessings that they have personally experienced or that they have a testimony of.  Then have class members share some of their experiences with missionary work and the blessings that come from sharing the Gospel.

Two great talks that you will want to read and incorporate in this lesson are:

M. Russell Ballard, “Creating a Gospel-Sharing Home

Henry B. Eyring, “Let Us Raise Our Voice of Warning”

My new favorite thing are Scentsy Warmers.  Check them out!
